“I made a really cool Trail Blazing project.”
“What is a ‘Trail Blazing project’?”
“Well, for geography, every week, I have to write a report on a state’s symbols. This week, my report was on Delaware.”
“That sounds interesting. Can I see it?”
“Sure. Come on over to the computer.” 
“Oh, did you type it?” 
“Not exactly…”

“Wow. That was very impressive. How long did that take?”
“All morning.”
“Wow. So, what else did you do this week?”
“Hmm… Oh I know! For American History, we have been learning about the Boston Tea Party. So I had to write two paragraphs on it, both as if they were newspaper articles - one from an American colonist’s point of view, and one from a British point of view. Want to see them?”
“Of course!”

“That was very interesting. Anything else you did this week?”
“Oh! I almost forgot! We are working on projects in art class! We are studying design and structure. I am building a Webkinz house! I brought some pictures home! Want to see them?”
“Of course!”

“Wow! That’s neat. So is it small or large?”
“Well, this is it compared to me. Does that answer your question?”

“That’s very tall! Is there anything else interesting you did this week?”
“Oh, there is one more thing I have to show you…pictures we took of baby and extra pictures of me!”

Another New Blog!

Hey look! It’s yet another new blog! Wow, let’s see. What can I tell you about this week? I haven’t received any more email requests, so I guess I’ll have to come up with my own ideas. Oh, yes! Well, this week in science, for the most part, I have been studying marsupials. The book stated a project I was to do, so I got started. The original project was to take construction paper and card stock, and glue them together to make a pouch then cover it with fur, cut out little joeys(marsupial babies) and put them in the pouch. This is what I morphed the project into:

Well then, how about a report, hmm?  I am reading this new series called “The Sisters Grimm.” It is REALLY good! It is a mystery series, but so far, each has the same continuing mystery as  one before, as well as a new mystery or two. Each book is a thrill ride through not only mysteries, but hilarious jokes, descriptive narration, and fun characters. What makes the characters so fun? Well, the book is filled with these characters called “everafters.” That is the name they prefer rather then being called fairy tale creatures, as that makes it sound like they are all animals, when really, the majority of them are humans. 

The three little pigs are capable of changing into human form to blend in with the un-knowing humans…(all everafters can do this)…and make up the police squad. Snow White is a teacher, and  Prince Charming himself is the mayor of Ferry Port Landing. Unfortunately, Ferry Port Landing is not only home to all the everafters, but it is also their prison. Years ago, a powerful sorceress was angered, and as punishment, made it so no everafter could ever leave, until every single Grimm was dead. This made it very difficult when Sabrina and Daphne Grimm moved in with their Grandma Relda after being in the orphanage. As, almost every everafter wishes them dead.  Soon, Sabrina, Daphne, and Relda Grimm are solving a mystery about a giant roaming the town! Next week, I will give a report about the next book in the series. Meanwhile, GET TO THE LIBRARY!

Now, I will tell you about what I am going to go do tonight. I AM GOING TO GO SEE CHECK! Check! is an improv group. My mom and I go to see it whenever we can, and unfortunately, last year I didn’t get to go at all, because whenever they had it, it was on a Thursday, which was the day of my theater class. Anyway,  I laugh my head off, and it gives me ideas for theater. We do improv games in theater too, and sometimes the students get to pick what game to play. At Check! they have snacks and vending machines, and you sit ON the stage, so you can see the “Checkers” very well. I have a blast there. 

I don’t really have much to say about this week. We didn’t go anywhere because baby is potty training, and mom is camped out in the kitchen with her. I did go to cotillion. Yep, dances, etiquette, and more. We learned a new dance step to the box step. We practiced having boys opening the doors for ladies and we practiced tying ties. Later this month, I am going with my cotillion class to the nutcracker play! It is a ballet performance. I can’t wait! Next month is the Christmas ball too. I can’t wait for it.

Halloween - All Saints' Day!

Hey guys! And good morning/afternoon/night! Ha-ha. Well, this week was a really fun week. Obviously, I went to the All Saints Day party, so why don’t I start with that? Well, actually it all started on Wednesday morning. I got up, and got ready for Catholic School House (CSH).  We were allowed to dress up as a saint. I went as Our Lady of Hope, but I looked a lot like Saint Elizabeth of Hungary. Now I know what you’re thinking… “I thought you were going as a wolf!!!” Well, I was, but more on that later.

When I got to CSH, I was the only one there who dressed up, however I brought the costume for my friend A. Our first subject is band. I play the saxophone. I am still learning everything, and I still need to get the book.  After band comes science. We are learning about chemistry. Our project was to take a bag of glue, measure out water, put it in, and put in this weird chemical, which I forget the name of at the moment. The mixture was slimy at first, but soon hardened.  In history, we played Pictionary with our vocabulary words. In jeopardy, well, you know what jeopardy is, right?  Lastly, we went to art. We are still working on our pottery. We finally got to carving them. We don’t have CSH next week. But the week after that,  we have CSH, and we are going to paint our pottery. 

After art, A. and I went to her house. From there, my mom picked us up and we went to my house for a sleepover. We played a game called One Word Story. That is when you are in a group of two or more, and each of you says a word to form a sentence. The story has to make sense, however, more often than not, they are super funny. There is also a game similar to that which we made up. It is called One Sentence Game. It’s the same as One Word, but as the name implies, instead of words, you use sentences.  In fact, we made up a story that we liked so much, we are going to write it!

After having lunch/dinner, talking, and of course getting ready, it was time to go to the All Saints Day party. We got in the car and drove to the party. When we got there, we had to set up the game we brought. Turns out, that middle schoolers and up have to be helpers… meaning that they don’t get to play the games. But the helpers do get a big bag of candy at the end. Unfortunately, there was a surplus of Tootsies. I got lots of comments on my wolf costume and my pumpkin that I carved. The pumpkin was of St. Brigid and the Wolf. I knew I was bound to heat up in that wolf-oven, so I simply brought a change of clothes. I not-so-quickly changed into my Our Lady of Hope costume, and went back into the room.  Everyone was quite shocked when I changed. They kept asking things like “weren’t you a wolf?” and “I thought you were a wolf!”. Can’t a girl change?  At the All Saints Day party, the middle schoolers were permitted to do the cake walk. I won some cupcakes.  Soon enough, the pumpkin contest was in action. My pumpkin won “Most Extraordinary!” We went home after that. 

A. and I watched AFV (Americas Funniest Videos) at 11pm.  We laughed so much, we woke up my dad! After that, we read jokes to each other till we nearly collapsed! Ha-ha. Well, all in all, it was very fun. Finally, we went to sleep. We ate pancakes when we woke up.  We got ready for church. When we left for church, she had to bring her things because we were dropping her off at Hobbit Club afterwards. However, once the Mass was done, we still had time to grab some McDonalds.

School, quadsuiting, and a parade

Written Oct 26  (yes, we're behind in posting again - sorry!)

Hey guys! I am so excited! Today is Friday! But that is not the reason I am so happy. I am so happy because….today, I finish my quad suit!!!!!! It is looking awesome! All I have to do right now is finish the feet, touch up the head and hind legs, glue on claws, and make a tail. I am so excited to see it finished. My friend A. is coming over today and we are going to finish the quad suit. She is also coming with me to an awesome parade today. It’s at the neighborhood park. There is a costume parade and a movie once it gets dark. The rest is hang out time. I have a feeling that I will get some comments on my costume. I wonder what movie they will play. They never announce what movie until you are ready to watch it.  I have a feeling I know what it is going to be.

As for school, I have had a lot of school this week, because of make up work. And of course, my day off on Wednesday, and baby’s birthday on Tuesday. Little baby is three already!!!!! Wow right? Last night, I stayed up till almost 11:00pm trying to do school and quadsuiting. Lots of work, but I’ll get it done. I also have to clean. But you probably don’t want to hear about that. Ha-ha. I think you will really like my report on Pennsylvania. I did it in a really cool format. (hint - read the corn stalk & olive branch symbols! - you can click on the image to make it larger.)

Mmm. Oh, and here is something that you might like to hear about. It is called co-op. This year, the people coordinating co-op, or at least the middle school part, know we like to hang out, so I don’t know if it was only last co-op, or all the co-ops to follow, but we only played games, or should I say a game at co-op. ( I hope we only play games every month!) so, we played a game called Deadly Winker. We all arranged our chairs into a circle. Then, one person, the “chooser”, walked around the circle. He or she would tap one person once, and another person twice. Once they were seated again, they would tell the people to open their eyes. Whoever was tapped twice was the detective and that person stands up stand up. Whoever was tapped only once stays seated and secret. They are the Deadly Winker. They look around at people, and once they receive eye contact, they wink. Whoever was looking at them “dies.” The detective tries to figure out who the Deadly Winker is. They have three guesses. If they guess wrong, the accused person has to die, and they have to try to guess again. It is a really fun game.

At Catholic School House, I was a snake.  Yes. A snake. See, I have a snake skin outfit I made, and I wore it. Also, I put eye shadow on, so it looked like snake skin. One of my friends thought I was in a fight. LOL.
