Hello everyone! Guess who's 15?? It's me!

I had an awesome birthday. My friend came over to spend the night and ended up getting snowed in and having to stay an extra night! It was really fun. The blizzard was unbelievable. We got about seven inches or so of snow! My friend and I went outside, flung ourselves in the snow, leaving body imprints and marking them as “evidence.” We even made a body-shaped mound of snow! Ha ha! I didn't write a blog last week because I only had school on Monday due to my birthday, the extended sleepover, and the snow!

As if one weird weather wonder wasn't enough, we felt an earthquake that happened in South Carolina that week as well! But the bizarre climate didn't stop there. Heat reached a record high of 77 the next week! That was just the weather.  This week has had it's share of interesting moments and events that I get to share with you today!

In addition to having my friend over on my actual birthday, I had a fantastic birthday party! Last Friday, my best friends came over for a slumber party! We had a blast. We went to see The Lego Movie, which was very good. We played tons of board games, and S. even played and won 32 games of Mario Cart on the WII! I can honestly say I think it was the best party ever!

Other things that have occurred outside of school these two weeks include cotillion and a meeting for the volunteers of this summers' Vacation Bible School.

In school, there's not much new. I've had a couple of tests, but other than that, it's same old, same old.  But as usual, I have a great selection of pictures for you! So, enjoy, and till next time, bye!

Hello everybody; who else is ready for the weekend? That's what I thought! Everyone! Let's go ahead and start talking about the school week. Not much is new, but I’m sure I can find something to talk about, like my new routine. Recently, I have started using my hand-held timer everyday for school. I'll work one hour, and then have a fifteen minute break, then work another hour and have a fifteen minute break. So far, it's been working really well!

This week in poetry, I have been memorizing the first eighteen lines of a poem called “The Canterbury Tales”. Here it is:

 

When April with his showers sweet
The drought of March has pierced to the root,
And bathed every vein in such sweet liquor,
By which virtue the flower is engendered;
When Zephyr also with his sweet breath
has breathed unto every wood and heath
The tender sprouts, and the young sun
Has in the Ram his halfway course run;
And small fowls make melody,
That sleep all the night with open eye-
So Nature pricks them in their hearts-
Then do folk long to go on pilgrimages,
And Palmers for to seek strange strands,
To far-off shires, known in sundry lands;
And specially, from every shires' end
Of England to Canterbury they wend,
The holy, blissful martyr for to seek.
Than them was helped, when the were sick.

Well? What did you all think? I still have a little under two more weeks to memorize it, but I can't say it will be easy!

The only other thing that's out of the ordinary for this week is this... I'm going to work ahead today so that I will have a day off next week. My birthday is on Tuesday! I'll be fifteen; can y'all believe it? I can't wait! I'll write all about it next Friday. But until then, bye!

Read, Write, and Snow!

Hello again everyone! Wow, this week really went by fast, huh? It seems like only a few days have gone by since I wrote the last blog! Well, time stops for nobody! I was supposed to go to science this week, but it got canceled unfortunately, so the only science related thing that I did this week was studying for my test and taking the test. 

The other subjects that I am doing in school are pretty boring to write about, all except for writing, in which I wrote a full essay! I now share it with you:

How was that? It took a full week of writing, revising, checking, and reworking, but it's finally finished!

For literature, I have begun a new book entitled Saint Francis Solano, and with it I have worksheets for every chapter to fill out.  It isn't too hard, only one chapter in the book and one worksheet page a day.  I am only on the third chapter.  It will take about 19 days to finish.

We didn't really have any school things out of the ordinary this week, however the weather provided a special light day of school on Wednesday. It snowed! The weather channel predicted 100% chance of snow, about 2-4 inches starting around noon. It actually turned out to be about a half inch, and it didn't start until around six o'clock. I guessed as much, it doesn't snow much here ever. We still played in the snow the next day! The snow was powdery and hard to pack, but I had promised myself I would build a snowman, so I went to the end of our driveway where water was frozen under a layer of ice. I cracked open the ice and filled a bucket with the freezing water with a cup. I then poured the water onto the powder and mixed it around to make slush that was easier to pack. I built a snowman! It took around three hours, and when I came in I could barely feel my toes! Baby was also cold when she came in, but she still went back out again on Wednesday, and Thursday, and the snow is still here and she wants to go out!

I'm making dragon wings!  Here's what I've done so far:

In the last blog I said that my friend A. was coming to sleep over. We went to see the movie Frozen, making it the third time I’ve seen in in theaters, and each time with friends! Then on Saturday, we went to the homeschool bingo night! We had a lot of fun, ate tons of pizza and snacks, and A. even won once!
